Meridian

Stomach meridian

Location

On the dorsum of the foot, in the depression at the junction of the bases of the second and third metatarsal bones with the intermediate cuneiform, at the highest part of the instep — where the pulse of the dorsalis pedis artery is felt.

What it helps with

Heavy, tired feet, stiffness across the instep, and in TCM terms a sluggish digestion with poor appetite.

How to work on it

Very gentle thumb pressure for 30-45 seconds beside the pulse rather than on it, followed by a few circles of the ankle.

Caution

The dorsalis pedis artery runs directly beneath: avoid strong or prolonged pressure, and move a few millimetres aside if you feel a clear pulse.
