In the anterior thoracic region, at the centre of the nipple; it corresponds to the fourth intercostal space and 4 cun lateral to the anterior median line.

What it helps with

Serves only as an anatomical landmark: it is used to measure out the neighbouring points of the chest and abdomen. It is not used on its own in self-help.

How to work on it

Not massaged. The point exists only to locate neighbouring points: intercostal spaces and the 4 cun lateral line are measured from its level.

Caution

This is an anatomical landmark, not a point to press: the nipple is not pressed, kneaded or warmed. Classical sources forbid both needling and moxibustion here.
