Location

In the upper back region, at the level of the inferior border of the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra (T1), 3 B-cun lateral to the posterior median line.

What it helps with

Gently releases tension in the upper back and the top of the shoulder, and supports a chilled, stiff feeling between the shoulder blades.

How to work on it

Easiest with a helper or a ball against a wall: light pressure with small circles for 45-60 seconds on each side.

Caution

The apex of the lung lies beneath these muscles: do not press deeply or abruptly - stay superficial and gentle.
