On the lateral chest, in the 4th intercostal space on the mid-axillary line — about 3 cun below the centre of the armpit.
Fullness in the side of the chest, intercostal discomfort, the feeling of not breathing in fully.
Arm raised behind the head: light stroking along the rib for 30–45 seconds.
Thin chest wall and axillary vessels: stroke lightly along the rib only, never press inwards. Keep clear of breast tissue.
